Prof. Petr Teplý appointed as a Member of the Appeal Commission of the Czech National Bank

With effect from January 1, 2026, Prof. Petr Teplý, Director of the Institute for Financial and Institutional Studies (IUF), was appointed as a Member of the Appeal Commission of the Czech National Bank (CNB), an advisory body to the CNB’s Bank Board in the area of administrative proceedings. The appointment represents recognition of his long-standing professional expertise in financial regulation, banking, and institutional economics, grounded in a combination of practical experience in the banking sector and a strong academic background.

In the past, Petr Teplý worked, among others, at ČSOB Bank, where he dealt with legal and regulatory issues related to the activities of financial institutions. He currently continues his professional engagement as a member of the supervisory board of the Czech Export Bank (CEB), focusing on similar matters in the context of banking regulation and the public interest. His practical banking experience is complemented by academic and professional activities at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, Prague University of Economics and Business, and at the Institute of Economic Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, where he has long been involved in teaching and research in the fields of economics, finance, and the institutional framework of markets.

The combination of banking practice and academic perspective creates strong prerequisites for a qualified contribution to the work of the CNB Appeal Commission, particularly in the assessment of administrative decisions and the quality of the regulatory process. At the same time, these experiences strengthen the analytical and research foundations of IUF’s activities.
